Welcome to the SMART Lab

The SMART Lab studies the cellular and molecular mechanisms that shape skeletal muscle health across aging, injury, and repair. Our work connects exercise science, regenerative biology, and translational therapeutics to better understand how muscle adapts and how function can be preserved over the lifespan.

Led by Dr. Robert Hyldahl, the lab trains graduate and undergraduate researchers through hands-on projects in muscle physiology, tissue regeneration, and human health.
